Description
After a lot of trial and error, I’ve landed on a 2-part Obsidian-based habit tracking system: 1) a simple custom callout in my Daily Note for marking habits as complete, and 2) a custom Canvas dashboard for visualizing the data associated with those habits.
In this video, I walk you through how to set it all up. And if you want to copy/paste the Canvas dashboard code, it’s included my Starter Vault 🙂

My Notes
This tutorial shows how to track habits in Obsidian using the Tracker plugin.
0:00 - Intro
0:37 - Habits 101
2:19 - Configuring Daily Notes
- Add the habits you want to track as tasks in your daily notes.
- Personally I think I’ll prefer to track habits using frontmatter instead of tasks.
2:54 - Setting Up the Template
5:06 - Creating Custom Callouts
6:47 - The Tracker Plugin
7:29 - Setting Up the Dashboard
The setup and syntax for this dashboard is pretty gnarly. If you’re gonna do this dashboard, use his template found here.
